PHYSICAL THERAPISTS

Iymen Iymen Bhanpuri, P.T., MPT

Iymen Bhanpuri is the lead pediatric physical therapist at Treehouse Pediatric Therapy. Iymen has more than 13 years of experience working as a pediatric physical therapist. She has worked in diverse pediatric settings including hospital outpatient clinics, schools, rehabilitation hospitals and private clinics.

Iymen has treated a wide variety of children, from those with minor gross motor delays to more involved special needs children who have neuromuscular and genetic disorders. She also has extensive experience working with children born with torticollis. She is currently accepting patients in her incontinence program. She is one of a few therapists in the state of Illinois qualified to treat pediatric dysfunctional elimination (PDE).

Iymen enjoys working with children that have gait impairments. She works closely with orthotists and doctors when orthotic intervention becomes necessary.

Iymen has a B.S. in Biology and a Master’s in Physical Therapy from Marquette University. She is also certified as an Early Intervention Physical Therapist with the State of Illinois.

Iymen lives in Lisle, IL with her two children and husband.  When not at work, she enjoys cooking, hiking and playing with her kids.

 

 

BridgetBridget Babinec, PTA

Bridget earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Bridget also obtained an Associates of Science degree in Physical Therapist Assistant from the College of Dupage and is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in the State of Illinois.

Bridget has over ten years of experience in an outpatient setting treating adults with orthopedic and neurological conditions.  In addition, Bridget has over two years of outpatient pediatric physical therapy experience in a hospital environment.

Bridget also treats patients in their home setting through the Early Intervention (EI) program through the State of Illinois.

Bridget enjoys working with children and has an excellent bedside manner with patients of all ages.

SydneySydney Oswald, DPT

Sydney has 5 years of physical therapy experience in  an array of settings including inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient clinics, and schools.

Sydney has treated children of all ages and varying diagnoses including treating many children with cerebral palsy, other neurological or genetic disorders with more physical involvements, as well as working with many children with mild to more severe developmental delays.

Sydney has a B.S. in Kinesiology and her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Indianapolis.

Sydney lives in Downers Grove with her husband and 2 dogs. She enjoys running, hiking, and traveling.

 

Heather WHeather Wodziak, DPT

Heather earned a B.S. in Physical Therapy from Northern Illinois University, and completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. She has over 17 years of experience, working in a variety of settings including outpatient pediatrics, early intervention, skilled nursing, inpatient rehab and acute care, including the neonatal ICU. She is currently treating patients in the pediatric incontinence program. She enjoys working with children and their families to help them to gain their highest level of function and independence.  She loves to see the pride on a child’s face when they master a new skill.

When she is not working Heather enjoys reading, baking, traveling, and spending time with her husband and 4 children.

 

NailaNaila Silva, DPT

Naila earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences from Northern Illinois University and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Governors State University. Naila has experience working with adults in the orthopedic outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation settings. She has also had the opportunity to work with children in the outpatient and acute care settings.

 

Naila is joining the Treehouse team as a full time physical therapist. In addition, Naila will be joining the pediatric incontinence team treating children with bowel and bladder dysfunction.

 

When Naila is not working she enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

 

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS

KrystleKrystle Velasco, MOT, OTR/L

Krystle studied occupational therapy at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, where she received her Master of Occupational Therapy degree recently. She also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences, pre-med with a minor in applied psychology from DePaul University. As early as she can remember, Krystle has been drawn to the pediatric community with the vision that it is the children who can have the most impact on the world. Because of that, she revolves therapy around a play-based model in hopes to motivate, enable, and empower each child to reach his or her fullest potential.

She has past experiences in adult outpatient rehab, skilled nursing facilities, community mental health, and adult day cares, but always had a special interest in the endless possibilities that children have. She strives to continue learning with the mindset that each day is an opportunity to experience something new.

 

 

Munira1Munira Shakir Raja, MOT, OTR/L

Munira graduated from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL with her Masters in Occupational Therapy in 2007 and with a Bachelor’s Degree (cum-laude) from St. John’s University in New York City in 2005.

She has worked in a variety of settings, including pediatrics, skilled nursing, acute care, adult orthopedics and neurology.  Munira has great interest in vision therapy, as she aims to strengthen this through additional continuing education courses in low vision, and visual perceptual difficulties.   She has an emphasis in treating children ages three through nine years of age in a range of diagnosis, including, sensory processing disorder, low muscle tone and fine motor skills.

Munira lives in the western suburbs of Chicago with her husband and three children.  She enjoys traveling internationally and experiencing different cultures along the way.  Her travel has definitely shaped her into a better therapist, allowing for stronger rapport with her patients.

 

 

Kate

Kate Mroczynski, MSOT, OTR/L

Kate graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She then worked as a special education aide in an elementary school for a year, working closely with children with a variety of disabilities.

Kate went on to graduate from UW-Madison with a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. There, she conducted research with Dr. Elizabeth Larson regarding executive functioning in children, helping to design an assessment.  In addition, Kate completed a clinical rotation at UW-Health Rehabilitation Pediatrics where she further studied sensory processing integration. She is Early Intervention Credentialed in the state of Illinois.

She is originally from Green Bay and a Packers fan! In her free time, Kate enjoys doing yoga, baking desserts, being outdoors and exploring the city. She is excited to be a part of the team at Treehouse Pediatric Therapy and the opportunities it offers.

 

 

MaggieMaggie Scudder, MOT, OTR/L

Maggie graduated from Saint Louis University with a Masters degree in Occupational Therapy, as well as a Bachelors degree in Occupational Science. While studying, she also worked as a Research Assistant developing play based treatment models for treatment of dyslexia and other literacy issues. Maggie has experience in a variety of settings including, hospital, inpatient rehab, and early intervention. She loves working in pediatrics because of the life-long family impact that it can have.

 

Maggie lives in the southwest suburbs with her husband. In her free time Maggie enjoys doing yoga, spending time with her family, and traveling

SPEECH THERAPISTS

 

KristenKristin Ellis, M.A., CCC-SLP/L

Kristin holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Elmhurst College and a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Indiana University. Actively practicing as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) since 2002, she has dedicated much of her professional career to treating the Early Childhood population (ages 3-5) along with Elementary and Middle School experience.

Kristin’s goal in working at Treehouse Pediatric Therapy is to empower families and encourage children to be effective communicators. She loves being a SLP and thrives on the progress her clients achieve. Kristin has extensive experience with autism, language delay and disorders, articulation, phonological disorders, stuttering, and childhood apraxia of speech. When not working, she is at home in Downers Grove being “mom” to her two little communicators.

Kristin holds a certificate of clinical competence (CCC) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed to practice speech-language therapy by the State of Illinois.

Heather Heather Pleune, M.A., CCC-SLP/L

Heather graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana with her masters in Speech Language Pathology in 1998.  While there she was a recipient of an Early Childhood research grant and focused on early language development.  Heather has worked in integrated preschool, elementary school and early childhood settings.  Most recently she has enjoyed working as an early intervention therapist.  Heather is passionate about providing therapy services for her clients and their families.

Heather holds a certificate of clinical competence (CCC) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed to practice speech-language therapy by the State of Illinois.

In her spare time, Heather enjoys traveling and raising her two girls.

 

 

Geralyn2Geralyn Petrauskas, M.A., CCC-SLP/L

Geralyn has over 30 years of experience including clinics, home health, private practice, schools and Early Intervention. Geralyn has extensive experience with articulation/phonological impairments, language disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, autism spectrum disorder, and oral-motor/feeding issues.  Geralyn loves working with kids of all ages and enjoys celebrating with them the special moments that happen every day.

Geralyn received her BS from Miami University and her MA from University of Illinois in Champaign. She has received the Award for Continuing Education from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in 2010 and in 2014. She is credentialed in Early Intervention and has a Type 10 certificate from the Illinois State Board of Education.

When not providing speech therapy, Geralyn enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, and traveling.

 

 

Lindsay D1Lindsay Dhuse, MS, CCC-CLP/L

Lindsay graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Northwestern University in 2009, and a Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2011. During her career, Lindsay has specialized in pediatric populations, working with children in preschool, elementary and middle school. She has experience working with children with articulation/phonological disorders, fluency disorders, social communication disorders, apraxia of speech, and receptive/expressive language disorders. Lindsay loves to utilize play and the child’s interests to meet communication goals! She also incorporates literacy into therapy whenever possible.

When she’s not working with kids, Lindsay loves to travel, read, and play with her energetic dog!

AndreaAndrea, Bermes, MS, CCC-CLP/L

Andrea graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Illinois State University in 2013 and a Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from Midwestern University in 2015. During her career, Andrea has specialized in pediatric populations, working with children in elementary schools and middle schools as well as through Early Intervention. She has experience working with children with articulation/phonological impairments, expressive and receptive language delays, fluency disorders, and pragmatic language disorders.

When she’s not working with kids, Andrea loves to explore the city, go to Cubs games and spend time with friends and family.

LisaLisa Scudder, MS, CCC-CLP/L

Lisa graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Communication, Sciences, and Disorders from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL in 2011 and a Masters Degree in Speech-Language Patholgoy from the University of Kansas in 2013. During graduate school, she worked on a Communication, Technology, and Autism grant where she worked with families in their homes to help support their children with autism who use augmentative alternative communication (AAC) devices. Lisa has extensive training with various AAC devices and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Specch Language Hearing Association (ASHA), a professional license from the State of Illinois, and a Professional Educator License in the area of Speech-Language Pathology. For the past 3 1/2 years Lisa has worked with high school and transition students in the school setting. She also has experience working with the pediatric population, spanning from preschool through elementary years.

 

Rachel Unterfranz, MS, CCC-CLP/L

Rachel graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences from Eastern Illinois University in 2013. She had an incredible experience obtaining her undergraduate degree that she decided to stay at Eastern Illinois University for her graduate degree as well (GO EIU)! She earned her Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology  in 2015. After graduating with her Masters Degree, Rachel worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist at an Elementary school. There she enjoyed providing language, articulation, pragmatic, and fluency evaluations and offered therapy to a diverse group of children. Currently, Rachel works at an early childhood center  working with students with autism, down syndrome, intellectual disabilities, and speech delays. She enjoys working with the pediatric populations as it allows her to come to work and play every day and there is never a dull moment! She is passionate about utilizing play based therapy approach because it encourages the growth of speech and language skills in a natural and fun environment allowing children to more easily generalize what they have learned.

Rachel holds a certificate of clinical competence (CCC) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed to practice speech-language therapy by the State of Illinois.

When Rachel is not working, she enjoys watching sports (Go Cubs & Blackhawks) as well as shopping and spending time with her family and friends! 🙂

Lubaina Lubaina Raj – Speech Therapy Case Coordinator

Lubaina Raj is a Family Advocate and Speech Therapy Coordinator. She graduated from DePaul University, Chicago with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. She loves working with kids and is excited to see them and their families when they come to the clinic for therapy. We take great pride in our family friendly and comfortable environment at Treehouse. She also has 2 children of her own.

 

 

 

KimKim Steinbarth – Occupational Therapy Case Coordinator

Kim Steinbarth is a Family Advocate and Occupational Therapy Coordinator. She graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work.  Kim loves working with kids and is excited to see them and their families when they come to the clinic for therapy.

Kim is born and raised in Naperville and is an avid Bears fan . She has one child of her own.

 

 

 

AdnanAdnan Bhanpuri, MBA  – Chief Business Builder

Adnan Bhanpuri does all the odd jobs that everybody above does not do.  He enjoys making sure the facilities are clean, is in charge of HR, runs legal, oversees information technology, builds furniture, completes therapist credentialing, customer billing oversight, paying bills, random family scheduling, buying food and coffee, and anything else that requires the clinic to run in a manner acceptable to the families that use us and the therapists that work here.

Adnan started this clinic with his wife Iymen Bhanpuri in February 2012 with little capital and a vision.  He has been able to realize that vision with support of the staff above and is thankful everyday for that.

Adnan is a reformed banker.  Adnan was a structured finance banker for 15 years working for Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, First Union, JPMorgan, BMO Harris and RBS.  He has been fortunate enough live in Chicago, New York, London and Charlotte for his banking career.  He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana with B.S. Finance from the College of Business in 1996.  In 2005, Adnan earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business in Entrepreneurship and International Finance.
